Should Liverpool be busy in the January transfer window?

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has suggested in The Daily Mail that Liverpool need to sign a left-back and a centre-back in the January transfer window.

Redknapp made the comments following Liverpool’s defeat to Bournemouth away from home in the Premier League at the end of the weekend.

The Merseyside outfit lost 4-3 to the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon despite being 2-0 up at one stage.

“Milner has done well this season but if Liverpool are to sustain a challenge, they need another left back and centre back in January,” former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp wrote in The Daily Mail.

Liverpool’s problems in defence this season have been well-documented, and it is an area that could cost the Reds the Premier League title this season.

It is clear that the Merseyside outfit need defensive reinforcements, but the question is where manager Jurgen Klopp will find them.

The January transfer window is not a great shopping window for major players, as clubs do not want to part company with their best players midway through the season.

Liverpool are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 30 points from 14 matches.

The Reds are four points behind leaders Chelsea and are very much in the race for the league title.
