Everton are set to meet Liverpool at Goodison Park later this evening.

Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku needs to bully Liverpool’s defence tonight.

Everton are set to meet Liverpool at Goodison Park later this evening, in what promises to be a fierce Merseyside derby.

The Toffees will be determined to win to ensure that they get back in the race for a top six spot, while Liverpool need the three points to close the gap on top of the table Chelsea.

The Reds are fighting for the Premier League title this term, but their defensive vulnerabilities have seen them struggle to keep pace with Antonio Conte’s side.

And Redknapp claims that Lukaku needs to ensure that he puts Liverpool’s shaky back line under pressure.

“If Everton are going to win this game, he [Lukaku] has got to bully them,” Redknapp said.

“They’ve got a goalkeeper in Simon Mignolet who’s not had a lot of game time and a defence which can be a little shaky, so I will be fascinated to see how Lukaku gets on.

“When he is on form he is fantastic, but can he affect big games? Can he go and do the business in a derby?

Lukaku has scored only two goals in his last seven appearances for Everton.

The Belgian international does not appear to be at the top of his game, but his physicality could cause Liverpool problems this evening.

If the Toffees are able to get the three points against their rivals, they could move up to seventh place in the Championship table.
