Tottenham Hotspur’s long wait for a trophy continues.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that Tottenham Hotspur need to stop being so stubborn over Toby Alderweireld – and they must break their wage structure.
Spurs were in FA Cup semi-final action on Saturday evening, as they took on Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in an attempt to edge towards silverware under Mauricio Pochettino for the first time.
Tottenham made the perfect start when Dele Alli turned home Christian Eriksen’s cross, but Alexis Sanchez equalised from Paul Pogba’s cross before Ander Herrera won it for United.

Spurs’ 2-1 defeat has raised further questions about the direction of the club, with even the future of manager Pochettino brought into question after another defeat in a big game.
Tottenham have now gone over 10 years without a trophy, and they may now face losing more key players after seeing Kyle Walker depart for Manchester City last summer.
Now, pundit Jamie Redknapp has suggested that Spurs must break their pay structure, urging Daniel Levy to loosen the pursestrings or else ‘nothing will change’ at Tottenham and they won’t reach the next level.

Redknapp added to the Daily Mail that Tottenham also need to stop being so stubborn about the future of defender Toby Alderweireld, who was left out in favour of Davinson Sanchez yet again amid ongoing confusion over his future.
“Once again it’s a case of so near yet so far with Tottenham. Unless they break their wage structure, nothing will change,” said Redknapp. “First Kyle Walker was allowed to join Manchester City, strengthening a direct rival. Now, they risk a similar situation with Toby Alderweireld, who is out of contract and out of favour.”
“The Belgian is a warrior, a leader and one of the Premier League’s best centre backs. While Davinson Sanchez has done well, would Alderweireld have lost the aerial duel with Romelu Lukaku that led to United’s winner at Wembley? Unless Spurs stop being so stubborn, they cannot expect to reach the next level,” he added.
