Jamie Redknapp has suggested that he thought Richarlison might be upset by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form earlier in the season, as per his comments to Sky Sports.

Calvert-Lewin began the season on fire for Everton, as he shot to the top of the Premier League’s scoring charts.

It meant that Richarlison’s status as Everton’s chief goalscorer no longer remained.

The Brazilian was failing to find the net with any regularity over the early part of the campaign, but he now has five goals in his last five games.

And Redknapp waxed lyrical about the 23-year-old before yesterday’s game.

“I really do [think he can be one of the top players in Europe]. He’s only 23, go and try and find someone with that ability and the goals that he gets,” Redknapp said.

“I remember thinking earlier in the season, he almost got his nose put out of joint by how well Calvert-Lewin did, but right now he’s in red-hot form.

“He’s great in the air, a superb athlete and he makes good runs with good times. He’s a phenomenal player.”

Richarlison ended up being the match-winner for Everton again, as they beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0.

The powerful forward climbed highest and nodded home from a Gylfi Sigurdsson to push the Toffees to the verge of the top four.
