Liverpool travel to Goodison Park looking to extend their impressive recent run over Everton.

Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that he is expecting Liverpool to come out on top in Monday’s Merseyside derby with Everton before suggesting who the Reds’ most crucial player could well be.

The two sides are both looking to build on their respective midweek victories when they meet at Goodison Park, while also looking to secure the bragging rights.

However, recent history is very much on Liverpool’s side. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 12 games against the Toffees, and Redknapp does not expect Ronald Koeman’s men to break that run on this occasion, largely due to the current form of Adam Lallana.

“There are so many interesting battles in this game, but I think Liverpool will edge it. Everton have a lot of quality when they turn it on, but they have been a strange, inconsistent side this year. With Lallana in the form he’s in, I can see the Reds getting the points,” he told Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old was simply sensational during the club’s clash with Middlesbrough in midweek – scoring two and bagging an assist in the 3-0 victory – so Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be looking to him to make something special happen to perhaps settle the game.

But with Everton’s most recent result seeing them come from behind to beat Arsenal, there is no question that a repeat of that performance will force Liverpool and Lallana to find their best form if they hope to bag the three points that will send them up to second in the Premier League table.
