West Ham United were beaten 3-0 by Southampton in Premier League action earlier today.

Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of West Ham United’s match against Southampton, that Slaven Bilic’s side’s defending was appalling.
West Ham lost 3-0 at home to the Saints earlier today, as their dire start to the season continued.
The Hammers looked bereft of confidence throughout the match, and Redknapp felt that the London side were lucky to get away only losing by three goals.

“It was shambolic from West Ham,” he commented. “I can’t believe how poor they were. What it boiled down to what a lack of confidence, but people weren’t doing their jobs. Any neutral at home would have thought 6-0 would not have been unfair.”
Southampton took the lead in the first half when Charlie Austin found the back of the net with a fine finish, and that goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of West Ham.
Claude Puel’s side went on to fire in two second half goals through Dusan Tadic and James Ward-Prowse to take a comfortable three points.

West Ham are currently in 18th place in the Premier League standings, and there are great concerns about their stuttering start.
The Hammers are next in action when they face Middlesbrough at the London Stadium at the weekend.
