Tottenham Hotspur have started off the new Premier League season with four points from their opening two games.

Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur warms up during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at Etihad Stadium on August 17, 2019 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Jamie Redknapp has compared the work rate of Tottenham striker Harry Kane to when his fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher was coming through the ranks of Liverpool.

England international Kane has come through the ranks of the North London club and one quality you would say he possesses is his non-stop work ethic.

It has resulted in him becoming one of the best strikers in England’s top-flight, and after a number of injuries in recent seasons, he will be looking to push for that Golden Boot this term.

Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League (24/08/2019 at 8:30 pm), Redknapp shared what his dad told him about Kane when he was managing the club.

“It was a difficult one against Manchester City last week because he was working on scraps and he didn’t get a great deal of the ball,” Redknapp told Sky Sports PL.

“I think the way the modern game is going we saw with Firmino [against Arsenal], with Kane, even with Aguero, the work they put in when they haven’t got the ball. And that’s where the game has perhaps had its biggest change. The widemen work so hard without the ball.

“Kane, I remember when he was a young kid and my dad was at Tottenham and he said ‘his work ethic and will to get better and practice [is second to none’. There are no shortcuts. I remember Jamie [Carragher] at Liverpool, he worked incredibly hard.”

Kane will be preparing for Tottenham’s Sunday afternoon fixture against Newcastle United, where Pochettino’s side will move into second with a win.

As for Kane, he has a chance to add to his brace from the opening day of the season, when he punished an error-prone Aston Villa.
