Jamie Redknapp expects big things from Richarlison at Everton.
Jamie Redknapp has piled the pressure onto Richarlison at Everton by comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Everton spent £40 million on the Brazilian this summer with new boss Marco Silva desperate to acquire him from Watford.
Redknapp told The Mail: “When I first saw him play for Watford, he was the closest I have seen to a young Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I’m not saying that he’s as good as the five-time Champions League winner. But I see in Richarlison the same attributes the 19-year-old Ronaldo possessed when I played against him.”
Redknapp added that he feels the money Everton paid for Richarlison could become a bargain.
How well Richarlison does will depend on how he handles the pressure of the big price tag, or thrives on it.
Playing under Marco Silva is half the battle won already, with the manager having already demonstrated how to get the best out of him.
Richarlison’s big challenge is to show consistency, after he fading following a bright start in 2017/18.
