Jamie Redknapp believes Tottenham can upset Chelsea.
Tottenham Hotspur do not need much more motivation to beat Chelsea, with memories of their title bid collapsing at Stamford Bridge last season still fresh in the memory.
Yet the chance to ruin Chelsea’s bid to equal a Premier League record for successive wins should give them even more desire to get one over on the league leaders.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and Cesc Fabregas
The Blues are going for a 14th successive victory, with one win against Spurs already contributing to that.
Pundit Jamie Redknapp is backing Tottenham to spring a surprise, and says the game has an air of a title decider to it.
He told The Mail: “Chelsea may be looking good for the title but I still think there are twists to come — starting at Tottenham on Wednesday.
“Spurs were fantastic at Stamford Bridge a few weeks ago and have hit their stride with back-to-back 4-1 victories. This clash already has the feel of an early title decider.”
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Tottenham are 10 points behind Chelsea in the Premier League table, having recently climbed into fourth place, but if they want to stay in touch with Antonio Conte’s rampant side then Wednesday’s game is a must win.
Already this season they have played ‘spoiler’ by ending Pep Guardiola’s winning start to life as Manchester City boss, and Pochettino’s men will similarly hope they can pop Chelsea’s bubble.
A Spurs win may be what the title race needs to open it up, with Chelsea having to face reigning champions Leicester and title rivals Liverpool later this month.
