Jamie Redknapp has spoken highly of Tottenham Hotspur and England international midfielder Harry Winks in The Daily Mail.

The former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder believes that Winks can be an important player for England in the future.

The former England international has outlined the qualities of the 22-year-old midfielder – who earns £25,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – but Redknapp has also underlined the importance of the youngster not getting injured.

Redknapp wrote in The Daily Mail about Winks: “England could not handle the way Spain moved the ball so quickly and that is exactly what Harry loves to do. He gets it, gives it, and keeps things simple.

“He has already proved he can cut it at the highest level, starring home and away against Real Madrid in the Champions League and in Tottenham’s 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool last season.

“His biggest issue is injuries. With Spurs fighting on four fronts this season, Mauricio Pochettino will need to rotate his squad.

“That should give Winks plenty of opportunities to break back into Southgate’s squad. He just needs to prove his fitness.”

Quality footballer

Winks is a very talented and promising young midfielder, and the England international has performed well when he has been given the chance.

The problem with the 22-year-old is injuries, and that is affecting him from getting an extended run in the Tottenham team.

For Winks to develop and progress, the youngster needs to be free of injury and play a run of matches for Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are aiming to win the Premier League title this season and will also feature in the group stage of the Champions League.
