Jamie Redknapp has told SkySports he views Liverpool as title contenders this season.
Speaking to SkySports News HQ’s Morning View at 10am on Monday, Redknapp said he believes the lack of European football will work in the club’s favour.
He said: “I think Liverpool can go really close. Teams can benefit from no European football. They could go close to winning the title. He (Jurgen Klopp) has got his team now. It’s a big season for him.”

Leicester City had no distractions last year as they won the title, while the last time Liverpool were in the same scenario was the 2013/14 season under Brendan Rodgers where they came close to lifting the trophy.
Redknapp went onto say he believes the Reds have bought well this season, and picked out the under the radar signing of Ragnar Klavan.
He said: “Klavan is a no nonsense player. He might be just what they need at centre-back.”

Despite Redknapp’s positive words about Liverpool, he conceded they are just one of seven teams in with a shout of winning the league this coming campaign.
He regards both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and reigning champions Leicester as being in the mix, in what could be one of the most open title races for years to come.
