Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly keen on Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, who starred for Holland recently.

Jamie Redknapp has compared Liverpool and Manchester United reported target Matthijs de Ligt to a ‘Prime Minister’ after he featured for Holland in the UEFA Nations League.
Former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp stated that de Ligt’s leadership qualities, especially his speech after Ajax won the Dutch league was one that you would expect from a Prime Minister.
The Daily Mail have claimed that a host of clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United have shown interest in the 19-year-old centre-back as the Reds would have to make him their highest ever paid player if they want to snap him up.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (09/06/2019 at 10:10 pm) after Holland were beaten in the UEFA Nations League final against Portugal on Sunday, Redknapp was full of praise for de Ligt.
“For 19 years of age, phenomenal,” Redknapp told Sky Sports Football. “He’s a leader as well. When Ajax won the league he got up in front of his team, in front of thousands of people and did this speech which was like a Prime Minister would make.
“He’s such an important figure in this team. Van Dijk and de Ligt for many years that is the best partnership going. It’s as good as it gets.”

Centre-back de Ligt plays alongside Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk for his home country and the duo are regarded as one of the best defensive partnerships in Europe.
de Light has a long way to go, but there is a lot of hype surrounding the ball playing defender, who will no doubt want to replicate the recent rise of Van Dijk.
The Liverpool man helped the Anfield club to their sixth European crown at the start of the month when they beat Tottenham in Madrid.
