Pundit Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that he was ‘excited’ by Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria against Tottenham, whilst fellow pundit Graeme Souness hailed Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance.

Liverpool were in EFL Cup action on Tuesday night as they hosted Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, and Jurgen Klopp’s men ran out 2-1 winners.

A goal in each half from striker Daniel Sturridge put Liverpool 2-0 up, before Vincent Janssen pulled back what proved to be a consolation for Tottenham from the penalty spot after Lucas Leiva’s foul on Erik Lamela.

Klopp rotated his side with 11 changes, handing fringe players like Simon Mignolet, Ragnar Klavan, Alberto Moreno, Marko Grujic and Divock Origi a chance to impress, whilst he also blooded some young players too.

Liverpool-born academy prospect Trent Alexander-Arnold started at right back, whilst former Arsenal trainee Ovie Ejaria started in a diamond midfield, with the two 18-year-old starlets impressing.

Alexander-Arnold was full of energy up the right flank, whilst Ejaria showed off his athleticism in the middle of the park with strength and the ability to carry the ball forward through the middle of the park.

After the final whistle, former Liverpool player and manager Graeme Souness told Sky Sky Sports that he thinks Alexander-Arnold has ‘all the attributes to be a top player’ after a superb performance.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp then added that he was ‘excited’ by Ejaria, as he grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half and really looked to impact the game with his power and passing.

“He’s extremely athletic, quick and aggressive,” said Souness. “He’s in great shape, he’s light on his feet and he’s aggressive. I think he was very good, he had a super game. He has all the attributes to be a top player.”

“I thought he did ever so well. He really grew into the game and he grabbed it by the scruff of the neck in the second half. He’s a good passer of the ball. I was excited by him. He’s strong and he holds people off,” added Redknapp on Ejaria.
