Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he cannot believe that Sunderland boss David Moyes makes so many changes with his team selections.

Moyes has not stuck the same line-up on the pitch for two games running since way back in 2013.

And although Redknapp does not blame Moyes for all of Sunderland’s problems, he does think that more consistency would help the team find their groove.

“I could not believe it when I read that David Moyes has failed to name an unchanged team in the Premier League since 2013,” Redknapp said.

“Not since his days in charge at Everton has Moyes fielded the same XI in two matches running — and that is something which is so frustrating for the players. You never know who is playing one week to the next.

“I have some sympathy for Moyes with Sunderland given the players at his disposal but he also never settled on a team at Manchester United. If you want to be successful, you need to have some kind of continuity.”

Moyes is under pressure at Sunderland from sections of the fan base, as the Black Cats have struggled under his stewardship to date.

Although the Scot has been limited in what alterations he can make to Sunderland’s squad, due to a lack of funds to spend, the Wearsiders have still had a poor season.

Sunderland currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, and they look to be in serious danger of going down.

The Black Cats are three points adrift of safety, following their latest defeat to Everton, and their next match comes against Manchester City on Sunday.
