Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been trying to get a deal over the line for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish for some time.
Tottenham have been pursuing Grealish for much of the summer so far, but have failed to get a deal over the line.
The attacking midfielder actually played for Villa last night, but Steve Bruce has admitted it could be difficult to keep him out of Spurs’ clutches.
Tottenham have just days remaining to complete a deal for the play-maker, but Redknapp believes that Spurs will get a transfer over the line before the deadline, if they can buy him for a realistic price.
“They’ll buy him [Grealish] if he’s the right place,” he said. “Sometimes in football you have to buy him if he’s the wrong price though, if he’s the one that is going to make you better.”
Redknapp also suggested that Spurs should try and force through a deal for Anthony Martial, who he believes will leave Manchester United this wee.
“Martial might cost more than you want, like Grealish and Zaha. I think they need someone who plays off the cuff a little bit,” the former Spurs midfielder added.
“Do you not think that with Martial, if the right manager gets hold of him [he’ll be fantastic]? I think this week something gets done with him. They’ve got Rashford as their new number 10. He’s too good to be sitting on the bench.”
Tottenham have frustrated their own fans with their lack of activity so far this summer.
Spurs have stood still, while all of their top four rivals have strengthened.
Mauricio Pochettino has made no secret of his desire to bring in new talent, but with Daniel Levy seemingly unwilling to spend lavishly, he now faces the prospect of not seeing any new faces brought to Spurs all summer.
