Everton drew 1-1 with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their latest outing.
Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he agrees with Everton boss Ronald Koeman’s praise of Manchester City, after the two sides met on Saturday.
Everton picked up a 1-1 draw with City at the Etihad Stadium, but they owed much to their goalkeeper Marteen Stekelenburg.
The Dutch stopper managed to pull off a number of world class saves to ensure that his side did not leave empty handed.
Koeman was effusive with his praise of City after the contest, and Redknapp believes that Pep Guardiola’s men are the team to beat.
“Koeman’s right, City are the team to beat,” Redknapp said. “Manchester City may have just one more point than they did at the same stage last season under Manuel Pellegrini but it’s clear to see how much they have improved with Pep Guardiola.
“As the table below shows, City are enjoying more of the ball, dribbling more and covering more ground in games.
“Only some inspired goalkeeping from Maarten Stekelenburg stopped them beating Everton on Saturday and Ronald Koeman admitted City were the best team he has faced in his entire managerial career. City really are the team to beat this season.”
Everton nearly managed to grab a win against City, but they could not hold on after Romelu Lukaku scored.
A header from Nolito ensured that City got a point from the fixture, which keeps them at the top of the Premier League table.
Everton, meanwhile, are currently in sixth place in the table – having lost just one of their first eight league games this term.
