Jamie Redknapp has admitted that he was questioning Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth for ’15 minutes’ during his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

The Sky Sports pundit admitted at changing his mind as he felt that he played ‘ever so well’ despite his team dropping valuable points in their quest to finish in the top-four.

Spurs are in the driving seat when it comes to securing a top-four spot, with their rivals dropping points over the weekend, which hugely favoured Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (20/04/2019 at 3:00 pm), Redknapp admitted that Foyth struggled against Raheem Sterling initially, but he and his teammates recovered to produce a solid display despite ending up on the losing side.

“They were always in the game,” Redknapp told Sky Sports Football. “I always felt that they would be dangerous [against Manchester City]. But that big moment came early. Once that happened, they are chasing the game a little bit.

“But defensively, Foyth played ever so well. I questioned him, first 15 minutes he really struggled against Raheem Sterling, but he stuck to the task. The defensive three worked well and the keeper got better.”

At this moment in time, Spurs are still sitting third in the Premier League table and are one point ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal and Chelsea, whilst they are three points ahead of sixth-placed Manchester United.

On Tuesday night, they host relegation-threatened Brighton on home soil before West Ham United make the short trip across London four days later.

But the biggest game of them all for the club and their supporters will be their Champions League semi-final clash against Ajax at the end of this month.
