Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United will take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday as they look to return to the top of the Championship table.
Bristol City midfielder Jamie Paterson has admitted he was impressed by Leeds United’s style as they thrashed West Bromwich Albion 4-0 last week, speaking to the club’s official website.
Leeds produced their best performance of 2019 and one of their finest since Marcelo Bielsa took over as The Baggies came to Elland Road, cruising to a deserved 4-0 win thanks in part to a clinical double from Patrick Bamford.
The Whites will be hoping to maintain that level of quality when they make the trip to Ashton Gate on Saturday to take on a Bristol City side who have forced their way into the play-off picture in recent weeks.
The Robins lost 3-2 to fellow promotion hopefuls Norwich City in February and Paterson has drawn comparisons between Leeds and Daniel Farke’s high-flying Canaries.
“I think it’s fairly similar (to Norwich),” Paterson said when asked about Leeds’ style.
“We haven’t played Leeds for a while since they’ve been really on fire. They look like they’ve got high energy and they press very high and very well as a team.
“But there’s always positives and negatives to every style of play. We’ll work that out and try and put our own game plan in and try and get the three points.”
Leeds beat Bristol City 2-0 back in November thanks to strikes from Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez, though they were undoubtedly helped by a red card for visiting midfielder Josh Brownhill when the game was still goalless.
Leeds are just two points off the top while Bristol City are level with Derby County in seventh.
