Jamie Paterson has spoken about his celebration after scoring the winning goal against Nottingham Forest in the Championship yesterday.

Nottingham Forest lost to Bristol City in the Championship yesterday and the former Forest midfielder Paterson scored the winning goal.

He netted after Tammy Abraham had previously cancelled out Apostolos Vellios’ opening goal for Forest.

After scoring the goal the attacking midfielder did not hold back, celebrating with joy as he had just scored the winning goal against his former club.

He took to Twitter last night to explain why he celebrated so impassionately – suggesting his emotions simply took over:

Paterson left Forest this summer after seemingly becoming surplus to requirements under new boss Philippe Montanier.

He spent last term out on loan at Huddersfield Town and had his impressive moments for Forest in the past – but a lack of first-team football meant he had to move on.

Forest fans who got on his back during the game were certainly left ruing that decision, as Paterson reeled away in celebration.

Forest need to start picking up some wins and soon as they edge further down the Championship table. Conceding to former players is not going to help morale.
