Jamie O’Hara has intimated that Arsenal should fire Mikel Arteta and bring in Antonio Conte as his replacement this summer.
The Gunners are having a productive window but there’s question marks over how Arteta and Edu are spending the money.
Arsenal look set to splash £50 million on Ben White and may be dropping another £30 million on signing relegated Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Elsewhere, there is also talk about the North Londoners signing Tammy Abraham for £40 million.
In theory, the Emirates Stadium club could spend £120 million on White, Ramsdale and Abraham this summer if all this speculation is true.
But O’Hara isn’t a fan, suggesting that Arsenal should bring in former Chelsea boss Conte:
He told talkSPORT: “Ben White – really good signing. I think that’ll be a success. £50 million quid for someone from Brighton is ridiculous, but c’mon Arsenal need more. They need Antonio Conte as a manager. That’s what they need.”
Arsenal fans would love it
And they would – of course they would.
Conte is a serial winner and has also won a Premier League title during his spell in West London.
But Arsenal’s board is firmly behind Arteta for the time being, despite the team finishing eighth in the table last season and missing European football altogether.
The good news for Gunners fans who dislike the Spanish coach – who has been in senior management for only 18 months – is that if they don’t enjoy a blistering start to the 2021-22 campaign, strengthening belief of a top-four finish, then the club’s hierarchy may just part ways.
And with Conte still available after leaving Inter Milan, maybe a phonecall may be in order.
