Well, Tottenham Hotspur might not be ready for Champions League football after all.
Spurs went into this afternoon’s visit of Brighton with a four-match winning streak in the Premier League and a three-point cushion to fifth-placed Arsenal.
But the Seagulls – who won at Arsenal last week – achieved a North London double by winning 1-0 at Tottenham today to blow the top-four race wide open again.
It seems like no team is really that invested in claiming that fourth and final Champions League spot following an awful all-round performance by the Lilywhites.
And here’s how former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara reacted on Twitter:
Question is, can Arsenal capitalise?
The Gunners visit Southampton at St Mary’s at 3pm this afternoon.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side have lost their last two Premier League games, but surely this should reinvigorate an Arsenal side who have now have a massive chance.
The theme about this chase for Champions League football is missed chances, though, and it really wouldn’t be a massive shock if Arteta and co fail to capitalise.
