Tottenham Hotspur and Everton supporters will have their eyes on Euro 2024 this summer after a season of drama, entertainment and frustration.
From losing Harry Kane to points deductions. Both teams went through a lot during the recently concluded Premier League campaign.
Despite that, Tottenham still had players who were worthy of playing for their country ahead of Euro 2024, the same applies to Sean Dyche’s Everton, who had the fourth-best defence in the league (51 goals conceded), despite finishing 15th.
James Maddison recently got the bad news that he won’t be going to Euro 2024 after Gareth Southgate axed him from his final 26-man squad.
That was a big call from the England manager because Maddison was one of Tottenham’s best players.
But perhaps people were more annoyed by Jarrad Branthwaite not getting picked, especially with England low on quality in defenders and Harry Maguire having to pull out because of injury.
Jamie O’Hara says the call not to select Branthwaite was ‘really strange’, with Brighton star Lewis Dunk seemingly getting the nod ahead of him.
When O’Hara was asked by Jason Cundy who he would have at Tottenham, between Dunk and Branthwaite, if he had a choice, he didn’t hesitate to answer, as he told talkSPORT (10/06/24 at 10:25 pm).
Jarrad Branthwaite or Lewis Dunk at Tottenham
“What about Jarrad Branthwaite not getting picked, I found that really strange,” said O’Hara. “He played with Pickford all season.”
Cundy responded: “I think he has gone with Dunk because of how experienced he is as a pro. He has just gone with the pro experience. Who would you rather at Spurs next season? Dunk or Jarrad Branthwaite?”
O’Hara then responded without any hesitation: “Branthwaite.”

Jarrad Branthwaite’s future
Everton fans are waiting to see if Farhad Moshiri sells because a new lease of life needs to be added to the club.
But given the talk around Everton’s financial situation, there has been a lot of noise around Branthwaite’s future.

Sources told HITC in March that Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the ball-playing defender.
Either way, Branthwaite is one of the names to watch out for this summer because he could be on the move.
