Jamie O’Hara has slammed Ryan Sessegnon while criticising the quality of squad Tottenham Hotspur possess.

Since joining Tottenham in 2019 for £25 million (BBC Sport), Sessegnon has had a topsy-turvy time at the club.

Minor injuries and an inability to adapt as a left wing-back are two key reasons why the Englishman has struggled to justify the hype around his name in a Tottenham shirt.

Much like Gareth Bale, Ryan Sessegnon, who was making headlines as a left-back was tipped to explode once he was shifted to left wing.

However, Sessegnon has flattered to deceive in both roles, especially during his time at Tottenham.

Back in his Fulham days, the 22-year-old was once compared to Real Madrid legend Marcelo by the-then manager Slavisa Jokanovic (via ESPN).

But it seems as if all the attention has not amounted to much as Ryan Sessegnon is merely a bit-part player at Tottenham.

Starting a mere 8 Premier League games this season, the numbers certainly do not lie.

And now, a high-profile pundit has decided to tear into the youngster.

Jamie O’Hara decided not to mince any words while criticising Ryan Sessegnon during a rant where he was slating the quality of the Tottenham squad.

“[Eric] Dier, [Japhet] Tanganga, [Ryan] Sessegnon, Matt Doherty. Good players but we want to kick on.”

“He [Antonio Conte] needs top-class centre-halves, top-class wing-backs. He’s brought in [Ivan] Perisic, he’s 33, [Ryan] Sessegnon’s not good enough”, O’Hara said on Sky Sports (via Football Daily).

Unfortunately for Sessegnon, the pundit is right

Look, there is no denying that the Tottenham-mad pundit Jamie O’Hara comes off as harsh when criticising a player as young as Ryan Sessegnon.

However, one cannot help but agree with O’Hara, as Sessegnon is yet to fulfil his potential at the club.

If Tottenham aim to challenge for the biggest honours, they may have to open the door for players such as him to exit.
