Jamie O’Hara claims ‘money talks’ amid Everton’s interest with reported Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha

Everton and Arsenal are reportedly keen on the services of Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.

Jamie O’Hara has labelled Arsenal’s pursuit of Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha as ‘pathetic’ and claimed that Everton could potentially ‘push’ for the top-four if they sign a player of his calibre.

The former Premier League midfielder also claimed that ‘money talks’ in regards to Everton joining the race for Zaha’s signature, but he thinks the 26-year-old player will pick Arsenal.

The Evening Standard have reported that Everton will rival Arsenal for Zaha, who is eager to test himself on a bigger stage after numerous stunning performances in a Palace shirt.

Speaking to Transfer Tavern on TalkSport (20/07/2019 at 5:10 pm), former Spurs midfielder O’Hara shared his thoughts on Zaha attracting interest from Everton and Arsenal.

“For Wilfried Zaha, I think he has got to go and push where he wants to be,” O’Hara told TalkSport. “If Arsenal want him, he needs to tell them ‘I want to go and play for Arsenal’. It’s pathetic [to bid] £40 million for someone of his level and you are seeing players go now for £80 million.

“But Everton I think are going about very quietly about their business. They are putting together a good squad together and they are signing good players. I think Arsenal have been a shambles in the transfer market so far, I think if Everton can come and take him off them then I think it’ll be a great signing for Everton.

“I think Everton can be pushing for the top four. I don’t think that’s impossible with the squad they are putting together. Personally, I think he’ll want to be at Arsenal. He’s a London boy. Arsenal’s a huge football club. One of the biggest in the world. Everton doesn’t have the same kind of pull for him. But money talks.”

Earlier on his career, Zaha did play for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson was heading for the exit door, but his time at Old Trafford didn’t work out.

Now there’s no doubt that he’ll want to prove his worth once again on the big stage, but at this moment in time, only the Gunners can provide Zaha with European football.

Pre-season is already underway, but Zaha will be having some extra rest because he only recently finished participating in the Africa Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast.
