Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers beat off competition to sign Jamie Murphy.

Glasgow Rangers beating Bristol City to the signing of Jamie Murphy, should prove highly encouraging to supporters of the Ibrox side for the rest of the transfer window.
Bristol City had wanted to sign Murphy from Brighton & Hove Albion, according to the Scottish Sun, but they could not beat Rangers to his signature.

And that is all the proof needed that the Ibrox side still possess a huge amount of pulling power.
Rangers may not have won silverware for some time, but the history and stature of the club was enough to convince Murphy to turn down Bristol City.
There are few teams outside of the Premier League which would have been as appealing as the Robins right now.

Bristol City look like a team with a huge amount of upwards momentum, and they still have a chance to be playing Premier League football next year.
However, the lure of Rangers was too strong for Murphy, and that should be of great encouragement to Graeme Murty for the rest of the transfer window.
