Jamie Murphy has told the Daily Record that Alfredo Morelos has impressed him at Glasgow Rangers over pre-season.

Morelos struggled for form at the start of 2018, as his first campaign in a Rangers’ shirt came to a stuttering end.

However, the Colombian forward has been in great form since Steven Gerrard took charge.

And Murphy always felt that Morelos was going to be much improved after watching how hard he had been working in training.

“Alfredo has been great this season,” Murphy said. “He worked really hard over pre-season and the staff and the rest of the boys have helped him to reach the level he’s showing at the moment and that’s where we want him to stay. We want our No.9 scoring goals every week as it means we will not be too far away.”

Murphy signed permanently at Ibrox this summer, after making an impact on loan last term.

The winger has impressed for Gerrard’s side this term, carving out a number of opportunities for his teammates.

Murphy could be in line to start tonight, alongside Morelos, when Rangers take on Maribor in the Europa League.

Rangers won the first leg 3-1 at Ibrox, so have a healthy advantage to protect.
