Glasgow Rangers winger Jamie Murphy, brought to Ibrox on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window, scored against Motherwell at the weekend.

Murphy, who joined Rangers on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League in England in the January transfer window, scored for the Gers in their 2-2 draw with Motherwell away from home at Fir Park this past Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old winger found the net against Stephen Robinson’s side in the 53rd minute in what was Graeme Murty’s side’s second goal, but the Scotland international did not celebrate.
The former Sheffield United winger started his professional club football career at Motherwell, and the Scotsman has stated that he did not celebrate his goal due to respect for the club and for the fans.

Murphy told The Herald: “Being 2-0 down was obviously disappointing for us first half but we got back in it.
“To be the one that scored the goal, you want to celebrate it, but you want to be respectful as well.
“This club has done a lot for me. I was a skinny 11-year-old kid and they took me in and showed me how to become a professional footballer, so I owe them a lot.”

Respect for Murphy
Murphy must have been overjoyed when he scored Rangers’ second goal, but it was really mature and respectful of him not to celebrate against his former club Motherwell.
This should actually endear himself to Rangers fans more, as it paints a very good picture of Murphy’s character and of respectful he is of his former clubs and employers.
