On-loan Rangers winger Jamie Murphy has told the club’s official website that he is enjoying playing with Daniel Candeias and Josh Windass in a three-pronged attack behind Alfredo Morelos.

The trio combined to put Hamilton to the sword on Sunday afternoon as the Gers earned a 5-3 win at New Douglas Park in a crazy game that saw both sides take the lead in the first half.

Windass, 24, scored a hat-trick, while Murphy provided three assists as well as scoring his first Scottish Premiership goal. Alfredo Morelos also got in on the act, scoring once and laying on another two for the Light Blues.

As Rangers move second an nine points behind Celtic, Murphy described Windass as “terrific” before stating that he is enjoying playing in attacking midfield with the former Accrington Stanley ace as well as Portuguese star Candeias.

“Josh has been terrific, if you put the balls in areas he scores goals and we are delighted for him getting another hat-trick,” Murphy said. “I like playing in the three, they are both good players, Danny (Candeias) and Josh and you know Danny will create goals and Josh is going to do both.

“We just want to win every game and we don’t go into any game not thinking about winning it. It is up to us to keep doing that and see how far we can go.”

Scott Sinclair of Celtic vies with Daniel Candeias of Rangers during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Gers moved into second after Neil Lennon’s Hibernian beat Aberdeen on Saturday, as well as reducing the gap to nine points as Tommy Wright’s St. Johnstone kept out the likes of Scott Sinclair and Odsonne Edouard to draw 0-0 with Celtic.

Rangers will be hoping to build on scoring 11 goals in just two games as they play host to Craig Levein’s Hearts on Saturday in a tough test that the Gers will see as must win, if they are to remain in second.
