Jamie Murphy has told Rangers’ official website that he is confident that his best years are ahead of him and admitted that his dad had a tear in his eye as the winger signed on the dotted line at Ibrox.

Murphy became the Gers’ second signing of the January transfer window, joining the Light Blues from Brighton and Hove Albion on an initial loan deal that will become permanent at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old is a Rangers fan. And after completing his move to Ibrox, he admitted that it was a fairly emotional occasion for all of his family, while he also insisted that he will do everything he can to make the move a success.

“I feel the best years are obviously ahead of me. I’ve had a good career up until now, obviously down in England and in Scotland, so I’m looking to kick on, as Rangers are. Everything is looking up,” he told the club’s official website.

“There was a little tear in my dad’s eye when we were doing all the signing stuff so it’s a big thing.

“Obviously being from Glasgow I know what it’s like supporting the club, so I’m going to do everything I can to try and help Rangers become successful again.”

Murphy’s passion for the club is obvious, and that will undoubtedly boost his chances of proving a success for Graeme Murty’s side in the coming months as the supporters will not be able to question his effort or work-rate as it is clear that he plans to give everything.

And Murty will be hoping that that desire and passion has an impact on the rest of the squad as it will surely give them a better chance of catching Aberdeen and putting some pressure on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are currently on a mid-season trip to America and return to competitive action later this month when they travel to Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup before returning to the top flight to face the Dons.
