Nottingham Forest’s Stephen Henderson won’t be signing for Bristol City.
Bristol City assistant manager Jamie McAllister has told the Bristol Post that Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Stephen Henderson won’t be signing for the club.
The Robins endured something of a difficult summer having lost Joe Bryan, Aden Flint and Bobby Reid, who were all key parts of Lee Johnson’s side last season.
Johnson has managed to bring in Adam Webster, Jay Dasilva, Jack Hunt, Andreas Weimann, Marley Watkins, Hakeeb Adelakun and Mo Eisa, whilst goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa has also arrived.
The goalkeeping position has been a real problem for Bristol City in recent times, and even after signing Maenpaa, there is a belief that the Robins will still be in the market for another shot-stopper.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Bristol City want to land Fulham’s Marcus Bettinelli on loan and The Express report interest in Rangers stopper Jak Alnwick as Johnson considers his options.
A purchase is no longer an option, and after Goal reported last month that the Robins wanted Columbus Crew ace Zack Steffen, another goalkeeper has been looked at in recent days.
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has been told that he is surplus to requirements at the City Ground, and headed for training with the Robins last week.
Now though, Bristol City assistant manager Jamie McAllister has told the Bristol Post that whilst Henderson did come in for training, he won’t be signing for the Robins – leaving him to return to Forest.
“Nah, he’s not about,” said McAllister. “He came in for a couple of days, trained, we had a look at him and he had a look at us. It didn’t work out so we move on,” he added.
