Hibernian striker Jamie Maclaren has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Daniel Arzani is a ‘quality’ player – and a move to Celtic is what he needs.

The Bhoys have endured a frustrating summer so far, failing to really add quality to Brendan Rodgers’ side outside of securing Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard permanently.

A draw with AEK Athens and a defeat to Hearts has only increased tension at Celtic Park, but Rodgers is set to be given another signing in the coming days.

Last week, Manchester City confirmed the signing of Melbourne City playmaker Daniel Arzani, raiding their sister club to land the Australian teenager.

BBC Sport report that Arzani will now be sent on a two-year loan to Celtic, continuing the relationship with City which has helped them land Jason Denayer, Dedryck Boyata, Olivier Ntcham, Patrick Roberts and John Guidetti in recent years.

Arzani, 19, has emerged as Australian football’s next big thing, and he even broke into the international setup in time to head to the World Cup and appear in Russia.

Now, the diminutive creator is set for a move to Glasgow, and fellow Australian Jamie Maclaren has backed the move to be just what Arzani needs.

Hibs striker Jamie Maclaren has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Arzani is ‘quality’, but Celtic will be ideal for him as he needs to pushed to reach high standards by the likes of Scott Brown.

“Daniel is a quality player. He is young and has only played a little amount of football but I think he will grow up quickly,” said Maclaren. “Being at a club like Celtic he will have to raise his standards. The standards were high at Melbourne from the City group but at Celtic he will be around guys like Scott Brown who will push him on.”

“He needs that. I think he is the sort of player who needs big characters and he will do well — hopefully not well against us! But I wish him all the best,” he added.
