Ian Holloway is set to take charge of his first Queens Park Rangers match against Norwich City this weekend.

Jamie Mackie has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 16th November, that Ian Holloway made Queens Park Rangers’ players watch Coach Carter on his first day in charge.

Holloway has taken over from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Loftus Road, and his first day at QPR was a relaxed one.

Holloway called all of his players and staff into the canteen and made them watch Coach Carter to stress how important team spirit would be.

Mackie said: “It was good. He said before he came in that it might be a bit unconventional, but he got all the staff into the canteen and we sat through Coach Carter.

“It’s about a team coming together and doing well as a collective. It’s an inspirational sports film that the manager loves, and he says it’s changed his coaching outlook.

“Like he said, it may be an unconventional first day, but he’s a great character and he’s already given the place a great lift.”

Mackie is currently out injured at QPR, and has not featured so far this season.

In his absence, QPR have struggled – with the London club currently sitting down in 17th place in the Championship table.

Rangers had been hoping to push towards the play off spaces, but under Hasselbaink they had slipped down the standings.

QPR have won just two of their last 12 matches in all competitions, with confidence appearing to be low at Loftus Road.

Holloway’s first match in charge of the R’s comes this weekend, when they take on promotion chasing Norwich City.
