Norwich City ex-player Jamie Cureton is confident that the Carrow Road side can go over the line in their quest for promotion from the Championship but explained why he may not be seeing any of the games along the way.

With four games left in the regular season, the Canaries are top of the table and four points clear of second-placed Leeds United, but a few alarm bells have begun ringing following two consecutive draws.

Reading and Wigan Athletic, two sides in the bottom half of the table, were able to take points away from Daniel Farke’s side, the Royals drawing 2-2 at Carrow Road last Wednesday before the Latics played out a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium on Sunday.

Cureton, who scored 24 goals in 108 games during two spells with Norwich – including in the Premier League in 1994-95 – and is currently player-manager of Bostik League Premier Division side Bishop’s Stortford, was able to catch his old team’s last two games on television and he joked he wouldn’t be making a habit of it.

Jamie Cureton of Norwich City celebrates scoring a goal during the Coca Cola Championship match between Watford and Norwich City at Vicarage Road on March 04, 2008 in Watford, England.

“I might be a jinx because I’ve watched the last two games on telly and obviously they’ve not performed too well – so I might have to stop watching them!” Cureton told the Eastern Daily Press.

“It seems like they’re stuttering a bit but you look at them and the season they’ve had, and the players they’ve got, I’m more than confident that they will see it through and get promotion – which would be unbelievable for the club.”

Norwich next face Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road on Good Friday before travelling to Stoke City on Easter Monday, before seeing out the regular season with games against Blackburn Rovers and away at Aston Villa.
