Newcastle United were beaten 1-0 by Burnely at Turf Moor yesterday.

Newcastle were beaten 1-0 by Burnley at Turf Moor, after what was a dour contest.
Both Newcastle and Burnley are well drilled and organised, and it looked like they would cancel each other out for large periods.
However, Burnley bagged a winner in the second half through Jeff Hendrick, and Carragher felt that Newcastle simply lacked the quality to break down Sean Dyche’s side.
“Quality,” Carragher said, when asked what Newcastle were missing.

“I mean, let’s not forget, the last game they played they scored in the last minute – that could have gone either way.
“When you win a game 1-0, you can say ‘great defensive performance’, but that can easily be turned into a negative. Newcastle never looked like scoring a goal.”
Newcastle barely threatened against Burnley’s robust defence, and slipped to defeat, with their performance frustrating some of the supporters of the St. James’ Park club.

The Magpies are still performing well since promotion though, and currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table.
Newcastle are next in action against Bournemouth, when they will be craving a victory to put themselves back on track again.
