Jamie Carragher wants Everton’s Cuco Martina and Davy Klaassen to be handed more chances

Everton are currently in 14th place in the Premier League table, after enduring a difficult start to the season.

Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 26th September, that he wants to see Everton’s Cuco Martina and Davy Klaassen given more of a chance.

Martina and Klaassen were both brought to Everton over the summer transfer window, but neither have made bright starts to their careers at Goodison Park.

The pair have struggled to make much of an impact, with their performances falling below par.

And Carragher feels that the pair need more time, before he writes them off.

The former Liverpool defender said: “Martina and Klaassen, I’d like to see those two lads get more of a go really.”

Everton supporters have been left disappointed, following their failure to live up to expectations so far this season.

The Toffees have struggled through their opening Premier League matches, and currently have just two wins to their name.

Everton had hoped that they would have been able to challenge the European spots, and Carragher feels that Koeman’s side should be closer to the top four.

“What have they spent £140m? I wouldn’t be critical if Koeman doesn’t finish top four but the gap should be closer,” he added.

Everton are next in action on Thursday, when they take on Apollon Limassol in the Europa League.
