Jamie Carragher has said that both Tottenham Hotspur and Mauricio Pochettino should avoid a reunion this time around in a bid to potentially succeed Antonio Conte.
With the former Inter Milan boss’ time going from bad to worse at the club, an exit seems inevitable. While the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank have been linked with the job, it is only natural that the Argentine has also been associated with a return as a sense of unfinished business between the pair lingers.
But Jamie Carragher has advised both Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham against rekindling their romance as a search for a reported replacement for Antonio Conte.

In his column for the Telegraph, Jamie Carragher explained why if Antonio Conte does leave his job, Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino should steer clear of each other.
“Never go back. That is what they say in football. Mauricio Pochettino would be wise to remember that if he is tempted to return to Tottenham Hotspur. Don’t do it, Poch. All parties need to move on. Comebacks are usually more romantic than logical.”

He concluded, “The fact re-appointing Pochettino is under consideration is a damning indictment on how Spurs have operated since he left. Going back would be an acknowledgement of the mistake sacking him. He would have to restart in north London, and every setback would inevitably lead to comparisons to when he initially took over.”
