Jamie Carragher suggested on Sky Sports Football (4:39pm, October 18, 2020) that Harry Kane could play the Roberto Firmino role for Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Liverpool defender made the comments while he was on co-commentary duty for Sky Sports during their live coverage of the Premier League game between Tottenham and West Ham United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
Carragher believes that Kane could drop deeper and play in the role that Brazilian forward Firmino plays for Liverpool instead of being an out-and-out striker as his career progresses.
In the ninth minute of the match, Carragher said on Sky Sports Football (4:39pm, October 18, 2020) “I have been watching Kane’s position actually when they were playing around the back.
“The two wide players, Bergwijn, Son, playing really narrow, almost like Liverpool in some ways where Firmino drops deep and Salah and Mane play really narrow.
“Just watching Kane dropping in and picking up the ball, it’s something definitely maybe not right now – he is doing it right now – but certainly in the future, certainly prolong his career.”

Kane played well for Tottenham against West Ham, as the England international striker scored twice and provided an assist.
According to WhoScored, the English striker took six shots of which three were on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 76.7%, won six headers, took 70 touches, attempted one dribble, made two tackles and three clearances, and put in one cross.
Harry Kane is evolving
Kane played a similar role against Manchester United and against Southampton this season.
Against the Saints, the 27-year-old England international provided four assists for Son Heung-min, as reported on talkSPORT.
With Gareth Bale likely to become a regular in the starting lineup, Kane could evolve into more of a creator than a goalscorer, and that would benefit the team.
