Jamie Carragher has suggested that Antonio Conte could be ‘gone’ from the Tottenham Hotspur dugout by next summer, as he told Football Daily.

The Liverpool legend added that if Spurs want to do something with Conte, then they need to ‘do it quickly’ because he would be ‘very surprised’ if Conte’s still at the club the following summer.

As things stand, the Italian’s contract in north London expires next summer and the £13 million-a-year man (Daily Mail) is yet to sign on the dotted line.

But, in regards to what the all-action manager has been telling the media, there should be no worries, he is committed to the club and he is here for the long-term.

However, given the ex-Inter Milan boss’s history in the dugout, and how quickly he can head for the exit door, Carragher thinks Spurs will have a short amount of time with him.

“There’s something about Spurs and Conte,” said Carragher. “I think we all know and Conte knows, he doesn’t stay around too long.

“So, if he is going to do something, then he needs to do it quickly. I think he will know it in his own head. I don’t see Conte being at Spurs in more than two years. He could be gone next summer.

“But I would be very surprised if he is there the following summer.

“So, I think for him it’s about, a bit like Jose, ‘I am here two or three years and I am going all-out for it’.”

WILL CONTE SIGN A NEW CONTRACT?

Tottenham have been pretty busy this summer and concluded some top deals that have impressed their fans ahead of their return to the Champions League.

But Conte signing on the dotted line would be the best deal they can conclude this summer, well, that or Harry Kane also extending his stay.

Either way, it’s understandable why some doubt Conte’s long-term future because the facts are simple, he doesn’t stay in a job for long enough.

However, at all his previous other jobs, he has always put trophies in the cabinet before leaving, so if the one-time Premier League and FA Cup winner does that at Hotspur Way, and still leaves, then fans would probably accept that through gritted teeth because it means they have finally added trophies to their name.

Until then, fans are enjoying this progression, positive feel and a sense of excitement building around Tottenham ahead of the new Premier League season.
