The Liverpool legend was not pleased with the German goalkeeper yet again.
Liverpool have lost a stunning fixture against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League this afternoon.
Liverpool were leading 3-1 late in the game before Bournemouth staged a magnificent late fightback in the game.
Goals from Ryan Fraser, Steve Cook and Nathan Ake saw Liverpool snatch the game 4-3.
Liverpool’s Loris Karius
However, Liverpool’s players will feel they threw away the game against Bournemouth – with one player certainly culpable.
Loris Karius had a poor game for Liverpool.
He should have done better for Fraser’s goal and then spilled a shot from Cook at the feet of Ake for the game’s winner.
One man certainly not impressed was former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher. Speaking as part of Sky Sports’ coverage of the game he made it clear he was not yet impressed by the German:
Jamie Carragher during the press conference
“That’s nowhere near good enough from that goalkeeper. This goalkeeper has failed to convince me in any game that he is of the required standard. He’s got to save that.
“Seven or eight games he’s played and it is still early days and who knows how he will be over the next two or three years but there needs to be a massive improvement from him.
“He hasn’t done anything yet in those games that’s impressed me.
“It’s a shocking mistake that, late on in the game. Now and again you need your goalkeeper to make the save.”
Liverpool’s Loris Karius
Since arriving from Mainz in the summer the young goalie has done well to become first-choice keeper ahead of Simon Mignolet at Anfield.
But he has not won over many fans with some jittery performances and poor mistakes since his arrival.
Liverpool fans will no doubt have faith in Jurgen Klopp regarding the long-term potential of Karius.
But he needs to start showing his best performances as soon as possible.
