Was yesterday the night Brendan Rodgers’ decision to recall Jordon Ibe became a masterstoke?
The 19-year-old was a rare spark in a dull Merseyside derby as Liverpool drew 0-0 with Everton at Goodison Park.
And former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was more than impressed with Ibe, who played at right-wing back for Rodgers’ side.
He also singled out Emre Can and Martin Skrtel for praise, while speaking highly of Everton trio Phil Jagielka, Muhamed Besic and James McCarthy.
It is unsurprising Ibe took plenty of the plaudits, of course, considering his relative inexperience at Premier League level. The 19-year-old dazzled down the right-hand side and almost opened the scoring with a spectacular strike that hit the far post for the Reds.

As Opta stats show, meanwhile, Can and Skrtel are perhaps worthy recipients of Carragher’s praise, too, with the Liverpool centre-backs enjoying a better day at the office than the nervous-looking Mamadou Sakho.
German Can, naturally a midfielder, won three tackles and interceptions against Everton, while Slovakian defender Skrtel won four aerial duels and made 11 clearances against the Toffees.
Even the dullest of derby games, then, can have its bright spots.
