Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Jamie Carragher has been giving his opinion on Liverpool’s new signing Ibrahima Konate.
The Anfield legend has had a keen eye on the Frenchman for the France U21s, and he says that he’s noticed something about Jurgen Klopp’s new man.
What’s been said?
Carragher says that the one thing that stands out about Konate is his size.
Indeed, Carragher didn’t touch too much on the Liverpool man’s technical ability, but he did note just how much of a physical presence he appears to be.
“I’ve seen snippets of him in the Champions League, obviously last season when Leipzig did really well.
“I watched him this season and I watched him a few days ago for France (U21s) and he just looks massive.
“He’s big and I like the size of him, he looks like he can cover the ground, he’s got big long strides when I was watching him play and he looks a huge presence and you just trust Liverpool with signings, you just do now.
“The way they go about it with Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards, the prices they pay, the ages they get certain players at, you just trust them.
“So, you know, if Liverpool feel someone is good enough to bring in, they’ve got the whole fanbase on side because of their track record.”

Could be a real asset
It sounds as though Liverpool could have a real gem on their hands.
As a centre-back, one of the most important attributes is your physicality, and it seems as though Konate won’t be bullied by any attackers.
At the age of just 22, Konate has a lot of room to improve, and if he learns from Virgil van Dijk at Anfield, he could blossom into one of the top centre-halves in the world.
