Aston Villa recently appointed Steve Bruce as their manager.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has praised Aston Villa chairman Tony Xia in The Daily Mail.
The former Liverpool defender believes that Xia has made a good managerial appointment in Steve Bruce.
Bruce was recently appointed the Villa manager following the departure of Roberto Di Matteo.
Former England international Carragher has praised Xia for taking the decision to hand the managerial job to Bruce.
The former Liverpool star, though, has suggested that the Villa chairman needs to give the ex-Hull City manager time to turn things around.
“Tony Xia, the new owner of Aston Villa, has made some odd choices since he arrived but appointing Steve Bruce is the best thing he has done,” Carragher wrote in The Daily Mail.
“Bruce knows how to get teams out of the Championship, he wants the game to be played in the right way and he has taken over at a club that has great potential if it can be reawakened.
“The issue, though, is whether Xia gives him the time to turn things around. You have to wonder whether that will be the case, given his actions so far.”
Villa got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and are playing in the Championship at the moment.
The Villans are not doing so well and currently find themselves just a point above the bottom three.
Villa will return to action on Saturday evening when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park.
Bruce can take the Villans forward, but he must be allowed time and perhaps funds to sign his own players in the January transfer window.
There is still a chance that Villa could end up in the top six of the Championship this season.
