Jamie Carragher is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will not be beating Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend and Jamie Carragher can’t see a home win.

The Premier League returns this weekend with the final international break of 2023 now over.

Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to get his Tottenham side back on track after defeats to Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Spurs were unbeaten in the first 10 games of the season but injuries and suspension have now given them two losses in a row.

The international break came at a good time for Tottenham, allowing Postecoglou a chance to regroup.

Postecoglou probably didn’t want to face Aston Villa right now though with Unai Emery’s men in great form.

Villa have won six of the last eight and are mounting a charge for the top four this season.

The Stick to Football panel have now offered their predictions for this game – and they don’t fancy Tottenham.

“I fancy Villa to get something,” said Ian Wright, with Jamie Carragher adding “Tottenham won’t win that, Tottenham won’t win.”

Carragher and fellow pundit Gary Neville went with a 3-1 Villa win whilst Wright and Roy Keane predict a 2-1 Villa win.

None of the pundits are backing Tottenham to win this weekend, seemingly believing that Spurs will make it three defeats in a row.

Postecoglou facing first Tottenham Hotspur speed bump

Postecoglou enjoyed a dream start at Tottenham and won the Premier League Manager of the Month award three times in a row.

Spurs now face problems though with so many key players missing against Villa this weekend.

Defender Cristian Romero remains suspended and centre back Micky van de Ven is out injured, just like playmaker James Maddison.

Destiny Udogie could be back this weekend but the loss of pace at the back and creativity in midfield seriously impacts Postecoglou’s style.

The high line and the attacking play are massively dented right now and Postecoglou will face a battle to get Spurs back on track this weekend.
