Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has wished his former Reds teammate Steven Gerrard his best wishes on Instagram as the latter makes his first foray into management with Rangers.
Gerrard, 38, takes charge of the Gers for the first time competitively as Rangers take on Macedonian side FK Shkupi in the first round of Europa League qualifying on Thursday night at Ibrox.
The Liverpool legend has already made his stamp on the Gers squad, bringing in nine players and a handful of those could start the match on Thursday. Even Lassana Coulibaly and Umar Sadiq could be included in the squad, after signing this week.
Carragher wished Gerrard the best of luck on Instagram as Rangers look to get off to a winning start and fight their way through the Europa League qualifying round to reach the group stages of the competition.
Rangers were embarrassingly knocked out at this stage last season, with Pedro Caixinha’s side losing to minnows Progres Niederkorn with a 2-1 aggregate loss over both legs.
Indeed, Gerrard has got off to a decent start as Gers manager, beating Welsh side TNS 3-1 in a training friendly as well as annihilating Bury 6-0 – in which new signing Scott Arfield scored a brace.
