Speaking on the UMM YouTube channel, Jamie Carragher has claimed that Trent Alexander-Arnold could become one of the all-time great right-backs in football history.
Carragher was answering numerous questions ahead of the new Premier League season, and he was asked about the Reds’ 22-year-old star.
The sky pundit was asked about comparisons between Alexander-Arnold and Cafu, and while Carragher was full of praise for the defender, he says he’s not quite on Cafu’s level yet.
What’s been said?
Carragher gave his view on the comparisons between Cafu and Alexander-Arnold.
“I still think Trent still has a little bit to go to be talked about in the same breath as Cafu. For me, Cafu is one of the all-time greats. I think Trent could become one of the all-time greats, he’s one of the top full-backs in Europe right now, he’s a playmaker from full-back, but to put him in the same bracket as Cafu is a bit premature,” Carragher said.

One day
It’s ludicrous to compare a 22-year-old to a two-time World Cup winner, but maybe one day Alexander-Arnold will be at that level.
The right-back is certainly talented enough to go down as one of the greatest of all time, while he also has a tremendous collection of medals, being a Champions League winner as well as a Premier League winner.
Alexander-Arnold is a fantastic young footballer, and Carragher is spot on when he says he may go down as an all-time great.
