Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has been speaking about Jurgen Klopp and this current Liverpool team.

Liverpool have reached the highest of highs under Klopp. They’ve won the Champions League and the Premier League under the German, taking Liverpool back to the pinnacle of world football.

Unfortunately for Carragher, he was unable to win the Premier League during his playing career at Anfield, which undoubtedly remains a regret of his.

Carragher says he wishes he could have been managed by Klopp during his career.

What’s been said?

The Liverpool legend was speaking with Gary Neville about Klopp.

“Do you ever think now when you see Klopp at Anfield that you wish you just had him?” Neville asked.

“Yeah, listen, sometimes you’re in the right place at the right time. I’m not taking anything away from these players, these are legends for what they’ve done. But sometimes you’re in the right place at the right time and some of these players have won the lottery because they’re with Klopp. I’d love Jurgen Klopp to be my manager, I would love to have been managed by him.”

Imagine that team

Imagine if you had a time machine and could take a modern-day Jurgen Klopp back to the Carragher-era.

That 2008/09 side came ever so close to winning the title under Rafa Benitez, but we have to feel that if Klopp was at the helm they may have won it.

Steven Gerrard would have been the perfect Klopp player, while Fernando Torres would have scored plenty under the German.

Robbie Keane certainly would have had a more successful time at Anfield under Klopp while Dirk Kuyt’s workrate would have been perfect for his style.

Add in the likes of Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso in midfield and you have an exceptional team that Klopp could have worked wonders with.
