Everton are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with just eight points from 10 matches.
The Toffees, who finished seventh in the league last season, are currently level on points with 17th-placed Swansea City.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher does not think that Everton will go down to the Championship at the end of the season.
“They are right now,” said Carragher on the Monday Night Football show on Sky Sports Premier League on Monday evening (7:09pm, October 30, 2017) when asked if Everton are in a relegation scrap.
“I don’t think Everton will go down, but right now that has to be the mentality of people at the club.”
Everton have a very good squad and have some wonderful players, such as Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wayne Rooney and Michael Keane.
It is hard to envisage the Toffees playing in the Championship next season, but the players need to start grinding out results.
Finishing in the top four in the Premier League this season is now a distant dream, but challenging for the seventh or the eighth spot is still very much possible for the Merseyside outfit.
