Brendan Rodgers wanted to sign current Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Liverpool, says Jamie Carragher.
Jamie Carragher has revealed in The Daily Mail that current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wanted to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan when he was in charge of Liverpool.

The 27-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, joined Borussia Dortmund from Shakhtar in the summer of 2013 and moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2016.

“I remember how Brendan Rodgers was desperate to sign him for Liverpool from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2013 and he was devastated that he opted for Borussia Dortmund instead,” Carragher wrote in The Daily Mail. “He was an outstanding performer in Germany and the signs are he will be the same for United.
“Everything he has done over the past seven days bodes well for the future and Jose Mourinho could do with him turning it on again on Sunday against Tottenham.”
