Jamie Carragher has said on Gary Neville’s podcast that Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has not been the same since the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The former Liverpool defender made the comments about Wilson while analysing Newcastle’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
The Magpies are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 24 matches.
Newcastle are four points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played 26 games.
Liverpool are currently fifth in the standings with 42 points from 25 games.
Newcastle have been struggling in recent weeks and lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester United last month.
Then this past Saturday, they suffered a defeat at the hands of defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League.
Wilson has been struggling for goals as well.
The £92,000-a-week (SalarySport) has scored seven goals and given three assists in 18 Premier League appearances for Eddie Howe’s side so far this season.

If Newcastle do not start to score goals more regularly, then there is a very good chance that they will miss out on a UEFA Champions League place.
The Magpies have scored just 35 goals in 24 Premier League matches this season.
