Everton beat Liverpool 3-0 in 2006 and they were keen to remind their supporters of the victory this morning.

Jamie Carragher has jokingly responded to Everton’s tweet, which was looking back on their 3-0 win over Liverpool back in 2006.

Everton posted highlights from the memorable Merseyside derby, in which Carragher had a torrid time.

The Liverpool centre-back was given the run around by the Everton attack, as the Toffees ran out comfortable winners.

And Carragher didn’t take too kindly of being reminded of the heavy defeat on social media website Twitter.

Carragher made one huge error in the match, which allowed Andy Johnson to add Everton’s second on the day.

That was the first of two goals which Johnson scored on the occasion, with Tim Cahill also notching.

Everton don’t have a great record in Merseyside derbies in modern times, so this was a fairly rare success to celebrate.

Everton are currently trailing Liverpool by six points, with four games played in the Premier League this season.
